In a nutshell, stoicism teaches (in part) that the path to happiness for humans is found
- in accepting the moment as it presents itself and
- not allowing oneself to be controlled by the desire for pleasure
- or fear of pain.
Secular Buddhism, on the other hand, focuses on the idea that we cling to impermanent things and ideas and that by overcoming that tendency we can find a better life, and it offers strategies for doing just that.
